Wont hurt to test the ram. this kind of troubleshooting is just a process of elimination isnt it. freezes and lags can be symptoms of motherboard issues,bad ram,cpu i havnt had a lot of MB issues. i think it comes down to a physical check basically. The cooler shouldnt be an issue,but sometimes when upgrades are done it leads to issues,when there were non before.
sometimes for no very logical reason. sometimes undoing the upgrade fixes the issue. sometimes not. its were computing becomes a pain in the i mostly play around wth software,these days,so i dont have those issues much till something fails wouldnt hurt to look at the hard drive. upload the specy report. or if you dont want to use speccy ,post a screen shot of crysaldislinfo. The only fix is hard restarting the PC. The PC is very new a few weeks maybe and is a Omen 30l Desktop AMD Ryzen X. Ive done a good amount of troubleshooting with no success. Im hoping someone on here can help me out. The PC works completely fine browsing the web, playing games, and downloading smaller sized files.
Ive only seen this issue occur when downloading games that take a good amount of space on any platform Epic Games, Steam, etc. Windows is running the latest 20H2 version. Ive tried downloading games in safe mode with networking and it also failed. Whats weird is that I ran an HP system test that tests all the components of the PC and it passed a quick and extensive tests, computer freezes when downloading large files.
Not sure if that test is accurate enough and if I should be doing further testing, but now I can only think its hardware related since it failed to download in safe mode. Would love any assistance as this is disappointing as I just got this PC recently. The only thing thats been changed is that I upgraded the PC with a Noctua air cooler and a few news fans.

Posted 28 April - PM The system test is the HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI within my BIOS. Not sure if that would make a difference. I dont see the cooler being an issue. After all, its only cooling the CPU.
Its only been a positive in lowering the temperature. What should I be looking for on my motherboard? The only thing Ive done is ensured all connections are secure and there is no dust buildup. Should I be monitoring something when I attempt to download a game? Im planning on heading to the local Walmart to buy a USB drive to run a Memtest on the RAM today and will make sure to get that report back to you guys.
